That was a tremendous event. AI governance is at the forefront, especially with ethical AI governance. With the EU currently rolling out GDPR, it will be an interesting journey.
It has been a fantastic event of content from the most novice AI level of information to all the way to extremely deep workshops.
As someone still in the early stages of learning about AI, this event was transformational. I walked in curious and left inspired. The possibilities of AI have expanded how I view the world.

At All Things AI 2026 in Durham, whurley, CEO of Strangeworks, handed part of his keynote to an AI agent he had built, and the agent addressed the room itself.
In the excerpt, the agent introduces the work it says it handles, including email and scheduling meetings, and explains that it has persistent memory and access to tools.

Build an Agent Day
One day. One agent. Built by you, for your job.
Build an Agent Day is a hands-on program of All Things AI for people in business, government and education. You bring a real piece of your own work and spend the day building an AI agent for it.
No programming experience required.
Step 1: Choose a workflow
Pick a repetitive task from your own job that you would like an agent to help with.
Step 2: Build an agent
Set up an AI agent for that workflow, one step at a time.
Step 3: Test it with real examples
Run it on real examples, see what it gets right and decide where a person still needs to review.
Step 4: Demonstrate what it does
Show what your agent does, and what you would improve next.

Choose a task you repeat at work.

Silicon Valley builds the models. The Triangle runs them.
The largest research park in North America, three top research universities inside twenty miles, and the companies that moved here for the workforce — Apple, Google, Red Hat, SAS, IBM, Lenovo, Fidelity.
The models get built on the West Coast. They get deployed, governed, and explained to a board somewhere else. Increasingly, that somewhere else is here.

Without real training at every level, AI widens the gap between the people who have access to it and the people who don't. So we run this with universities, nonprofits, sponsors, and state and local government, around one shared outcome — economic impact where we live.
In 2026 we put 173 people in free seats through the scholarship and access programs, and we've committed to 500 for 2027 — sponsored or not.

What is All Things AI?
All Things AI is a practical AI community for people in business, government and education. It runs an annual conference in North Carolina's Research Triangle, meetups and webinars throughout the year, and hands-on programs such as Build an Agent Day. It was co-founded by Todd Lewis of All Things Open and Mark Hinkle of The AIE Network.
Who is All Things AI for?
It is for people putting AI to work: executives deciding where AI fits, engineers and builders shipping it, and people in business, government and education who are just getting started. Meetups are open to anyone, and Build an Agent Day requires no programming experience.
When and where is All Things AI 2027?
All Things AI 2027 takes place April 18–20, 2027, at the Atlantic Union Bank Convention Center, 500 S Salisbury Street, Raleigh, North Carolina. The planned program opens with an Agent Hackathon on Sunday, a workshop day on Monday and the conference day on Tuesday. A separate Executive Summit with screened participation takes place April 21, 2027. The 2025 and 2026 conferences were held in Durham.
What is Build an Agent Day?
Build an Agent Day is a hands-on program of All Things AI. In one day, you choose a workflow from your own job, build an AI agent for it, test it with real examples and demonstrate what it does. No programming experience is required. Dates and locations are listed at buildanagent.io.
